Ed Tech 202, About Me!

So, it's been over a whole year since I've blogged. I figured that i spend way too much time on facebook as it is, sharing details of my life that i found important, and deemed this site 'useless'. However, i kept it up and running because i love to read my cousin's blog, and in order to do so, i needed an account, so here we are!

Now, a year later, i was asked to create a blogger account for my Educational Technologies class at Boise State in order to introduce myself to my professor and classmates. I hope to provide a better understanding of who i am and why i have chosen my career path. So here we go!

My name is Danielle Allsop, but i prefer to go by Dani. I've never been a huge fan of the name Danielle because for whatever reason it brings about images of rainbows and daises, and that's just not my thing. I am very tall (an inch short of six feet), which made me self conscious for a long time, but now i am learning to embrace it (i even wear heels!). I was born and raised in Chula Vista, California, just south of San Diego.

I absolutely love my hometown, but my family and I moved to Eagle, Idaho when I was fourteen for a change in pace. I am now a whole-hearted Bronco fan and love living in the Treasure Valley.

I graduated from Eagle High School in 2007 and decided to take some time off to regroup (ok, ok, so i could sleep) and began school at Boise State in the fall of 2008.

Since the second grade, i knew i wanted to teach. It was my second grade teacher, Mrs. Syktich, who really influenced my decision, and she still gives me encouragement to this day. I developed a bond with her and her daughter, Brittni, who is now one of my best friends, and we spent all of our free time in her classroom. I think it was because i was so welcomed into the environment at such a young age that i developed a strong want for becoming a elementary school teacher.

I also have a strong passion for kids. For whatever reason, i feel the most comfortable being around them, and trying to influence them to be the best they can. I am involved with coaching soccer to seven year olds, and i think that's the age i want to teach in school. It seems like they have already developed their personalities and are always good for a laugh. Plus, they are all potty trained (i don't do well with that kind of thing...).

I hope this gives you all some insight into my life, and there are older posts below if you want to know more!
